To Mum,
I miss our little chats that we usually have before I go to bed. The trenches smell like dogs business (poo and wee). There are jobs that are dirty. I hate cleaning the smelly toilet because you use a spade to scoop up the poo. There are bullets that hit people every second, most of my friends are hurt or dead.
The food is disgusting especially the hard tasteless biscuits. Please send me some yummy donuts soon or I'm going to completely loose it. I drive a warplane. It's called F5 (F stands for fighter, 5 is the number of it).
I hope this thing ends soon.

Dear family,
I really can't wait to get home. It is hot, exhausting and I just can't get enough sleep because I am to busy fighting. I really miss you.
In all the trenches I have stayed in I have not liked it one little bit because it is dirty, damp, noisy and smells really bad. It almost smells like a stinky trash bin.
Our food over here is disgusting and everyday our meals are getting worse and smaller. The type of meals we eat are: roasted rats, canned foods and pounds of meat with hardly any meat on them, if you know what I mean.
I would like to not eat the food but I know it is critical for me to eat it because if I don't I will probably die of starvation.
I would love it if you sent some food over here. Just a treat, please!

I have been thinking about the food in the house like all the biscuits, here it is disgusting!
It would be really nice if you could send me some food.
The trenches are devastating, narrow and cold - not like home. It's dark, wet, dirty and unpleasant. There are little rodents running around carrying diseases and the rats can grow to cat size! I know what you are thinking - YUCK!
If you get your feet really dirty you will get trench foot. If you get it your feet might get amputated (cut off).
Eww! The food here is rotten, unpleasant and nasty. The food we eat is meat stew, nasty biscuits and sometimes roasted rats. I wouldn't dare eat the rats, stew and the tinned food. You can tell if it's yuck by the smell. When you are lucky you can get chocolate and cake.
I can't wait to read your letter.

Dear Sam,
I'm missing Pointa (our cat) a lot. Especially when she would trap me in bed and I couldn't get out in the morning. I miss her pushing me against the wall. I have been missing Rose (our rabbit) too.
Our trench is a slim place to be working in and revolting. It's hard to stay clean when there is rats running around the place with diseases. We have jobs and I hate being on the toilet job because you have to clean it without a spade.
YUCK! The meals here are getting worse and worse everyday. Sometimes we have to have roast rat and meat stew.
Please send me some cake, cause I'm tired of having hard biscuits for lunch. Everybody has received a parcel with food in it to eat.
I hope that the war is going to stop soon.
I have to go now.

Dear Buster,
I miss playing with you. We have been at war for two weeks now and it's horrible, cold and wet. It's hard to sleep because guns are going off and bombs are going off too!
We have meat stew for dinner a lot and I like it.
