Adventure World
Room 5 have created their seated area using power poles cut into stumps. We engraved our names onto a stump each, as a way of stamping our mark. We are so proud of our final product and look forward to spending time here in future.

Making our mark in Adventure World
We have had a busy few days engraving tree stumps, personalising our very own. We used a lot of energy today rolling each stump up to Adventure World and dug holes in the ground to make a seated area for all classrooms to enjoy. More photos to come.

Holiday Recounts
My hands remember
holding my freezing boysenberry ice-cream, covered with chocolate while
watching the BFG at the movies. They remember getting gooey melted chocolate
all over them. They also remember being tucked inside my pockets since it was
so cold inside. My hands remember holding the ice cold drink bottle from New
World.
My eyes
remember staring at the BFG (Big Friendly Giant) sliding his hand through the
window and snatching a little girl called Sophie. They also remember seeing the
big fat, flesh eating giants sleeping on the rocky ground. They remember gazing
at the BFG’s big, heavy ears flapping in the air. My eyes also remember
watching the Queen, BFG and Sophie farting and farting all around the Queen’s
Palace.
My ears
remember listening to Sophie telling the BFG to say words properly. He always
says snozzcumber instead of cucumber. Silly old giant! They also remember
hearing the giants yelling for help because they were stuck on a small island.
They remember the Queen asking Sophie if she wants to live with her. She said, “Yes.”
My ears remember listening to the BFG saying that if Sophie tried to escape she
will be gobbled up till there is nothing left of her!
My tongue remembers
tasting hard hokey pokey lumps crunching in my mouth. They remember the hokey
pokey lumps getting stuck on my teeth. They also remember arranging the
ice-cream in my mouth since it was so cold and I was almost going to scream!
They remember squeezing the pineapple lumps on top of my tongue.

My hands remember
touching the shiny light blue water. I was at the swimming pool doing arm
circles. The instructor says “One, two, heads up.”
My arms
remember getting on the huge inflatables. I also felt the warm water all over
my body in the big two metre pool.
My feet
remember getting out of the extreme pool. I hopped on one foot into the kiddy
pool. My feet remember jumping in the water. Belly flop… BANG! I accidentally
went on my feet and banged my broken leg.
My ears
remember kids screaming for lollies. “I want lollies,” yelled a kid. The kid is
screaming because he does not know where his mother is.
My eyes
remember watching people run to the end of the rocket.
My nose
remembers smelling hot chips with BBQ sauce all over them. I also smell coca
cola mints fizzing into my mouth. I also smell the mints through my nose.
Hunter
M
My feet
remember walking up the stairs to the Invercargill cinema to watch Ice Age. My
legs got really sore when I was waiting in line for ages.
My eyes
remember finding a seat in Cinema One. I was watching the movie start when the
squirrel was in the UFO. He was really funny, especially when he got half way
through the door then it would close.
My ears
remember people quietly talking to the people they came with. A man came in to
tell people off for putting their feet on the chairs.
My tongue
remembers eating the delicious choc top (an ice cream with chocolate around
it). The fudge was amazing. I wished it was larger because it was so delicious.

Maths - Mass/Weight
This week during maths we have been learning about how heavy objects are. We identified classroom objects that were less than 1 kg, about 1 kg and more than 1 kg. We all felt an item that was exactly 1 kg and used this as our benchmark to decide the weight of other objects.
We used our estimation skills to attempt to fill a bag with sand that weighed 1 kg.
When weighed on the scales this bag of sand was 700 grams.
This bag of sand was also 700 grams.
