Visiting the RSA musuem

Our first week back of Term 2 has gone extremely fast. We ventured down to the RSA museum where we were lucky enough to have Bruce Kavanagh share all his knowledge about war, especially World War 1. This has inspired some of our very own children to do some research at home about their own family members that have served and the stories/memories they have from war.

Here we are outside the RSA standing around a mural painted of Edmund Bowler (Gore man) who was the first New Zealand soldier to set foot on Gallipoli.

On our travels home we stopped via the Field of Remembrance next to the memorial to see those who honoured the community by serving overseas in the First World War.
